...and thus ends my four day drinking binge

Although last nite wasn't much of a binge. I had four...no three. One was donated to a worthy cause. And after three days that's hardly effective, which could be construed as a good thing. All three bands were great. And instead of any insane partying, I bought a CD and went home. Cause sleep time is good.

Now Friday nite on the other hand...yeah...things got a little fuzzy. So, without further ado...

1) being terribly disappointed in alan thicke's spelling ability

2)"five bucks on pinky!"

3) 5...4...3...2...1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

4)me and danica wrestling over my beer. Nope, she ain't ticklish.

5)all of us, running through the downstairs neighbor's apartment yelling "happy new year".

6)ger and that other guy on tv.hysterical!

7)as I said, it gets fuzzy at the end. But I made it home. That can be considered a highlight.

8)the message my supervisor left on my answering machine for being an hour late the next morning. Starts off with the phrase "you better not be drunk."

uber-geek day!!

yep, today was uber-geek day here at beautiful 6262 chebucto. It was really nice out, so I strolled down to strange adventures. Picked up 1 to 3 of ultimate fantastic four and hawkman. Then, to prep myself for the upcoming sequel, rented spider-man.And after I type this up, I'm setting up my snes for some Zelda action. Those of you who have been reading this since waaaay back when I did this stuff on the spincycle site will remember how I stopped playing after everything I did was erased. Well, it's time to start anew.
hurray for uber-geek day!!!

Highlights:
1. Going to the idiot. Watching the band go from a Bad Religion cover to a Hootie and the Blowfish cover. Leave quickly after.

2. Two dollar drinks at the attic. so wrong.

3. "Do you guys wanna smoke some reefer?"
I really didn't think people actually said that in real life. Jay and I try really hard not to laugh.

4. Random guy asks me if there are any other good bars in town. Enthusiastically tell him about the seahorse show on Saturday. Walks away looking rather confused. Which reminds me:

THE HOLD CD RELEASE WITH OH GOD AND COLOR TV
SAT. FEBRUARY 28 AT THE SEAHORSE
ALL FIVE OF YOU WHO READ THIS SHOULD GO!!!!!

5. Saving Charlie from the crazy drunk girl that was attacking him. Apparently you should never use the term "just squat" in reference to going to the bathroom. Charlie did not realize this....

6. Rachel (justin's girlfriend, not the nevers)and I playing matchmaker in a feeble attempt to score more booze. Match made, no booze scored.

And now, to find out if spincycle is actually going to jam today. Fingers crossed....

Got to the thirsty duck just in time for epworth's last song. He falls down on the floor, lying on his back rockin' out. I proceed to viciously put "the boots" to him.

He'll think twice about duct taping my band again!

Tuesday, February 24, 2004

You know, i'm actually too old to try out for canadian idol?
Good thing too, cause i'd kick all your asses!
yep!

Sunday, February 22, 2004

clarification maybe...

I had a really great time last nite. The arctic trek across the commons. The sketchy mission over the citidel to the Seahorse( must escape detection by the 5-0's). The epworth "guitar solo". Going crazy to Oh God. Spitting beer on gerry. Seeing friends. Our cabbie hitting this guy who chucked ice at him with his cab. Good times all around.

However, on the walk between needs and my place, I had a million things going on in my mind. Mostly frustrations I have with music, work, my lack of a life...and i was ready to vent.

But then, somewhere between checking my messages and hitting blogger, i decided i didn't feel like it. And thus drunkenly wrote what you find below.

And as i sat there, drinking my one beer, listening to wilco, i thought "damn this is a great album!".

I fell asleep by the time it hit "War on War".

Fuck. You know, i was gonna go on this big tirade about all the shit that's going on in my life right now, or not going on, depending on how you look at it. But i really don't have the heart for it right now. I'm just gonna turn on some Wilco, sit down in bed, drink what remains of the beer in my fridge, and think of some cute girl somewhere who's into geeky guys who are into indie rock and tend to make a fool of themselves.
Goodnite. And don't let the cerfew get you down.

"Should i stay or should i go now...."

Hmmm...curfew vs. rock show?

Crystal, if you see this, let me know if/when you and kc are going down. Can't arrest all three of us. My theory is, get there just before 10. Rock out. Leave in a taxi WHICH ARE EXEMPT!!
But yeah, fuck, i'm not missing this show.

Friday, February 20, 2004

So, i was debating going to this party at bloomfield house. The thing was, i didn't feel comfortable with it. Sure, there had been public invites on various blogs and boards about it. Still, without a personal invite it feels like i would be...intruding?? Or someone would be thinking."why the hell is he here?". Probably just traces of left over anxiety from being a nerd that no-one really bothered with in high school.
So yeah, i was debating it over and over in my head.
But then this came up...

"(Friday, Feb.20/2004--- 19:00p.m.)---
HRM's Emergency Measure Organization is announcing that a curfew will be in effect from 11:00pm tonight (Friday February 20th) to 7:00am (Saturday February 21st). This curfew applies to all areas of HRM. All vehicles and pedestrians are required to be off the streets by 11pm (23:00) tonight with the exception of essential services. Essential services include medical personnel, emergency personnel, NS Power crews, and Provincial & HRM snow clearing staff and contractors.
The curfew is required to provide unrestricted access to roads and streets for snow clearing and emergency access. The cooperation of all HRM residents is greatly appreciated. "

So yeah, i think i'll just stay home and play nintendo....

This just in by our good friend Beardo. Appairantly people are being seen leaving the superstore area with superstore bags filled with goods. So it would seem that it's open now.
Good news for those of you who don't enjoy bbq potato chips as part of your nutritious breakfast.
But i do, so it's ok.

superstore:not open
sobeys:not open
bluenose laundrymat:open
cafe vienna:not open
needs:OPEN!!!!
Where i purchased butter (for my toast), bacon, and barbecue potato chips. Best breakfast ever!!

So today i'll either be
1. jamming
2. playing d&d
3. hitting the citadel with my krazee karpet!!!!!!

And for tonite...anyone up for some thing that might be, but not necessarily be, a party and involve, by not necessarily involve, copious amounts of beer? anywhere??

Being woken up. to go to work. in a fucking blizzard. sucks.

Sunday, February 15, 2004

Well, another valentine's day has come and gone. And it wasn't that bad at all. Went to dale's place after work, where he showed me the new guitar he bought. It's in really good shape and has a nice warm sound. Danelectro, I believe? So now spincycle is up one fully-functioning guitar to go with our three other sketchy ones. Progress!

So yeah, hung around hunter St., had a couple beers (thanks dale, I'll get you back), chilled out and went home. Just what I needed.

And tonite the spicycle band jams for the first time in ages. We're playing at reflections this coming Wednesday. We'll be playing pretty early (somewhere between 9 and 10). Prize Pig, repo's band, will also be playing. I believe we get three pichers. We'll probably all pitch in for a fourth so we each have a picher. Drunken craziness is guaranteed!

Saturday, February 14, 2004

against my better judgment...

You could taste the sliminess in the air.
You had the old leering at the young.
You had the worst music possible.
It was like Herman's (bar in Cape Breton), but smaller, more compact. But with the same amount of people.

The other people from work who dragged me there seemed to enjoy it. And I think one of the girls might have been hitting on me. But the mere fact that she liked this place...
You know, I've never really though about this before, but a girl has to have what I believe to be a good taste in music in order for me to be interested at all. I'm into rock shows. She should ideally be into rock shows. It just makes sense.

So after we finally leave the bar, me and shauna, who didn't seem to enjoy herself either, jetted for the greater Quinnpool area. We left the others behind us, and the conversation we had was basically "Wow, did that ever suck!"

And no, kids. Shaunna has a boyfriend and there's no great interest there anyway.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year..."
It always seems that the whole purpose of today is to make me feel like crap because I don't have a girlfriend. I don't usually work Saturday nites, but they scheduled me in for 4 til 10 specifically because of my no-girlfriendness.

Yeah. Just great.

I was supposed to go over to dale's place later, but I'll have to try to get al hold of him and inform him of my change of schedule. Although I'm not quite sure what's up, he just said "it's a surprise." Maybe our guitars have finally made their way back from cape breton. Now that would be a great valentine's day gift.

They took me to the pogue fado.
It was the worst time i've ever had. Ever.
I'll elaborate on it tomorrow.
And before crystal says it, yes i should have went to the seahorse.

Friday, February 13, 2004

So apparently at some point crystal and I kissed, and neither of us have any recollection of it. Not that big a deal, really. I just find it funny that we both don't remember it. Co-ordinates blackouts...

It seems that the tragedies/hold/spincycle squared/ this message will self-destruct show is cursed. This is the second time it's been cancelled. Now there's some talk of a bar show with pseudonyms. THIS SHOW WILL HAPPEN! SOMEHOW!

Some girls at work have invited me to a party tonite. Now, most girl-organized parties tend to have a large ratio of girls to boys. This can be a good thing or/and it can be a very frustrating thing. Case in point: the achievements party. Lots of hot girls there, but I knew them all. I mean, I still had a great time, it was just...you know... Anyway the point is...umm...I'll probably end up leaving the party and head to the attic and/or the seahorse and get plastered.

And of course tomorrow is my favorite day of the year.

Thursday, February 12, 2004

The squatters show was really fun.
Dale was pretty fucked so i left with him. He had other people with him, but he's always looking out for me when i'm fucked so i felt like i should do the same. I hope beardo found the party he was looking for.

And in a totally (kinda) unrelated note, i feel...i really don't know.
Well, that makes a lot of fucking sense.

Wednesday, February 11, 2004

Perhaps i should stop surfing and actually get some sleep?
You know, actually be rested for when i go to work.

Anyway, big House o' Rock show at the seahorse tomorrow. Can't wait to see sean's new band, great plains. I'd been bugging him for a while to get something going. He's just too good to not be fronting a band.

Sunday, February 08, 2004

Sorry kids. I only had two beer tonite, so no drunken blogging i'm afraid.

I, however, have discovered that that an extremely over-crowded bar with loud music and lots of obnoxious people talking is the perfect place to do some thinking. Who would have thought?
Sleep tight everybody.

Saturday, February 07, 2004

Nothing like breakfast at 9 in the evening.

Anyway, heading to the Seahorse tonite to see Wintersleep. We'll see if we can get a drunken blog out of this.

Thursday, February 05, 2004

This is the first thursday nite in a long time that i haven't gone out. And for some reason, that just seems wrong.

Got my new glasses yesterday. What a difference a new perscription makes. Everything is more clear, like if someone took your camera and changed the lens. I guess that's to be expected after going six plus years without getting a new pair.

...god i'm bored. I went and got groceries earlier just for something to do. Perhaps i'll tackle the task of cleaning the bathroom. If you don't hear from me in three days, send help.

Tuesday, February 03, 2004

So i pretty much figured there were maybe a few people who read the crap that i write once in a while. Bryce, Dale, darryl, Ian...you know, just friends of mine. But even back on the spincycle page, i did it with the same thought that a pirate dj would give to his broadcast: Nobody's listening. So fuck it.

Was it stupid for me to think that? Probubly. But, at the time, putting an "add your comments" link to this seemed like a big joke.

But...umm...now i have comments.
And now i can't help but wonder about who the hell else reads this thing.
And that perhaps, in the past, some self-editing might have been in order.
Anyway, it's bed-time. And for those of you who are curious, nope, i haven't had a drink at all tonite. All those who betted on this being a drunken post, hand over your money.
